R E A D - BY THE RIVER PIEDRA I SAT DOWN AND WEPT - Paulo Coelho
If you're truly nostalgic at heart and a HUGE fan of The Alchemist, then this book is for you. I stumbled upon this read serendipitously when I recommended the Alchemist to a friend who was looking to read a book that'd change her LIFE, and when it was sold out at her book store, she picked this one up instead. She sent me a snapchat of a page in the novel and within 30 minutes I had picked up a copy at Indigo. 2 days later, I had finished it. I could not put it down. This beautifully written book by Paulo Coelho like his other amazing writing, continues to explore the idea that the entire universe conspires to help your dreams come true, no matter what they are and what stage of your life that you're in. It also deals with forgiveness, old loves resurfacing in your life, thinking about life's regrets, and moving on. The best part about this book for me, and why my encounter with it was especially serendipitous, was how it explores the idea of always remembering to have agency in your own life. The main character Pilar and I are the same age, and the coincidence is not lost on me. It's easy to forget how you once felt when you were most inspired, or think it's too late to start over, when in fact, every new moment you're given is a chance to begin again.
